Rob Copsey of Official Charts Company called Ghost Town as “a triumphant return … the kind of song that forces you to sit and take note.” Lipshutz of Billboard commented that “the track could use a bigger boost of energy, although the dark house is well with Lambert costume.” Jon Caramanica of The New York Times said that: “maybe it is your best single to date … becomes a diva of the house, singing with precision and ambition, but at the service of the song”. which are two different themes – which only share one title “. Lambert was surprised to learn that Madonna also had a song with the same title, but he said: “Yours is like a post-apocalyptic love song, in the medium time, and mine is like an existential Gothic dance. Jason Lipshutz, a Billboard writer, noted that “Ghost Town” begins with “an Old West whistle that links guitar and electronic chords.” The music critics have noted the similarity between Adam’s song and the Madonna, Ghosttown due to the similarity between the titles and the proximity of the launches of the songs. Lambert revealed the cover of the single on April 16, 2015. Describing the style of his album as less ” tacky ” and theatrical than his previous material, Lambert also identified the album’s genre as “definitely pop but not gum style”.

“ Don’t give a damn if I go down, down, down.Ghost Town (in Portuguese: Ghost Town ) is a song written by the American singer Adam Lambert for his third study album, The Original High. Also as if there is no collective conciousness left in society making us all spread from each other, making us only think of ourselves – this idea would also fit into the destruction of “society” – meaning noone would care what Adam did or if he was down in the dumps, as long as they were okay. The previously referenced lyric about machines could also reflect in how society used to run as a machine and now its broken and barely functioning collecting rust whilst the parts cease to turn keeping things working as they should. The idea of a ghost town is something where there is nothing there, nothing recognisable at least. Like there was once a happier time where people had morals and ethics that they lived by, and now there is very little of that. “ All the machines, Had been disconnected”Īnother interpretation I’m playing with at the moment is the feeling that society is broken and everything is broken to what it should be. Or at least at the time of writing this, now we see this is not the case with certain Instagram pics ? This also makes sense with the friends being disconnected as their lives have moved in circles making Adam feel alone and if he can’t enter the once crazy social circle he was once in.

Or vampires as he calls them in the song. I’m either this is very personal and Adam is saying how he feels lonely and even though love was once something he thought of highly he know mocks it and the city he has known for years has lost all meaning and everyone may as well be dead because they’re zombies doing the same thing day in and day out with no life left in them. That definition made a lot of sense for me, as I’m sort of between how I see it. Also i’d say that would fit the description of LA (’city of angels’),as that’s how its sometimes depicted.” “It’s about people partying all night and sleeping all day? You know decadence, lack of values, love is a satire ect. One person on twitter has already offered me one interpretation on Ghost Town as I mentioned being unsure about the line “a city of vampires” yet loving the line “love is a satire”. However this album has been told to show a deeper, darker and more personal side of Adam which we haven’t seen before. If this album runs in line with his other albums, and from what we know about “Another Lonely Night” it seems to be then the theme may loosely run around love/heartbreak. So as Adam said we can all see our own meanings to the lyrics of whatever song.
